Dispatch of the Delegation of Republic of Korea (ROK) Experts on the Current Status of Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS) Treated Water at TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) (from May 22 to 25)
1. On May 22, the Delegation headed by Mr. YOO, GUKHEE, Chairperson of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, participated in a meeting in Tokyo.
The Japanese side explained the schedule and the details for the visit to TEPCO's FDNPS. Based on the prepared materials and data, there were questions and answers in order to deepen the understanding of the Korean side.
2. On May 23, the Delegation headed by Mr. YOO, GUKHEE, Chairperson of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission and approximately 20 experts, visited TEPCO's FDNPS to observe facilities (Supervisory facility, 3 types of ALPS facility, Storage tank, Transfer facility, etc.). There were also questions and answers about details and operation of each facility.
3. On May 24, the Delegation consists of Mr. YOO, GUKHEE, Chairperson of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission and approximately 20 experts, visited TEPCO's FDNPS to observe the facility related to the analysis of radionuclides and the dilution and discharge facilities including emergency shutoff value. There were also questions and answers about details and operation of each facility.
4. On May 25, the Delegation headed by Mr. YOO, GUKHEE, Chairperson of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, participated in a comprehensive summary briefing session in Tokyo.
5. The government of Japan will continue to disseminate information in a highly transparent manner and work to foster understanding in the international community, including the visit to the TEPCO's FDNPS.
